Explore what ACCESS results tell us about the English language proficiency of Multilingual Learners. Learn how to determine whether students achieved growth and whether that growth was sufficient to meet Missouri DESE growth targets. Because the number of students meeting growth targets factors into school and district accountability calculations, it is essential to understand how growth is defined and interpreted.
Review Missouri DESE’s ACCESS growth targets and how ML performance on ACCESS connects to accountability measures. Clarify key concepts such as proficiency levels and scale scores, including when each should be used in growth analysis, and explore practical ways to analyze growth at the individual student, grade level, building and district levels to inform program decisions and instructional planning.
Rob Greenhaw serves our members by providing consultation to schools that are working to implement high-quality, comprehensive and collaborative educational programs for English Learners. Rob also conducts professional development workshops that focus on providing practical strategies to instruct and assess EL students at all levels and across content areas. Rob has 14 years educational experience in a variety of roles including Spanish, Elementary and EL teacher as well as EL Program Coordinator.
Rob is passionate about working with teachers to help them feel confident in their ability to meet the needs of their English Learner students who he believes can not only meet grade-level standards, but exceed them.
