Building Thinking Classrooms in K-12 Mathematics | August 7, 2024 | 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM CT
This FREE one-day session is back by popular demand! Whether you've read Peter Liljedahl's Building Thinking Classrooms or just want to know what all the excitement is about, this introductory session is for any and all K-12 educators! Participants will experience a thinking math classroom, learn about the research behind Peter's work and collaborate with others to explore how to implement a thinking classroom in math.
Abby Smith serves all our members throughout the region as a K-12 math consultant. She has more than 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher, new teacher mentor and Instructional Coach and Coordinator. Abby is passionate about helping children build positive math identities and see math all around them in the world. She has extensive experience creating rich and rigorous math experiences for children so they develop the capacity to think and reason independently. Abby has worked with numerous teachers at varying levels to build their capacity to help students think flexibly and engage WITH math (rather than simply do math)!
