Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics – Digging Deeper | June 16, 2023 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM CT
Dr. Peter Liljedahl will continue to push deeper into the Building Thinking Classroom practices and how to move these into the realm of covering curriculum. The practices discussed will intertwine with, and make extensive references to, the recently published book, Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics (Grades K-12): 14 Teaching Practices for Enhancing Learning.
Prerequisite: In order to be eligible to attend the Digging Deeper session, prior attendance at an Introduction to Building Thinking Classrooms session is required.
Dr. Peter Liljedahl is a Professor of Mathematics Education in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University and author of the best-selling book, Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics (Grades K-12): 14 Teaching Practices for Enhancing Learning. Peter is a former high school mathematics teacher who has kept his research interest and activities close to the classroom. He consults regularly with teachers, schools, school districts and ministries of education on issues of teaching and learning, problem solving, assessment, numeracy and building thinking classrooms.
