Put an end to ineffective “push-in” support of multilingual learners and truly collaborate with general education teachers by forming co-teaching relationships!  This year-long initiative trains co-teaching partners to effectively co-plan, co-deliver and co-assess using the methods described in Co-Teaching for English Learners, by Honigsfeld & Dove.

In addition to studying the different models of co-teaching, participants will learn to design and deliver high-quality lessons that allow MLs to acquire both language and content knowledge. Co-teaching teams will spend time learning to set and write language objectives, make content comprehensible, develop academic language, differentiate instruction by English proficiency level and boost ML student engagement.

This professional learning opportunity is for new co-teaching teams who are committed to:

  • Attending four full-day training sessions with your co-teacher
  • Co-planning face-to-face every week
  • Co-teaching at least four periods each week
  • Participating in two coaching cycles (one per semester)
  • Reading and responding to selected chapters of Co-Teaching for English Learners, by Honigsfeld & Dove.

Attendance is required at all four sessions.
Session 1: Wednesday, September 11, 2024
Session 2: Tuesday, October 22, 2024
Session 3: Thursday, December 12, 2024
Session 4: Wednesday, March 5, 2025
