The ELevate conference is designed for K-12 educators to learn best practices and gain new strategies for creating inclusive and effective learning environments, and network with other educators throughout the region and state who have experience working with English Learners.
This conference is for leaders, EL educators, and content teachers who have EL students within their classroom. All can gain valuable learning experiences and practical strategies that can be applied to the classroom and their school communities.
This two-day event will feature over 35 breakout sessions presented by EL educators from around the region.
Sally Barnes is a former Spanish teacher and world language coordinator overseeing 200+ language teachers in a large school district. She was named Texas Foreign Language Teacher of the Year by TFLA. She focuses on creating meaningful and engaging classroom experiences in which languages are being taught, providing tools and strategies to ensure educators feel successful. She strives to strike the balance between trying new ideas and strengthening current strategies to reach all learners.
Isaac Márquez is a seasoned educator who began his career in 2007 as an alternatively certified educator. During the early years of his career, he dedicated himself to teaching English Language Learners, honing his skills in support of students who were navigating the complexities of language acquisition. He also served as a bilingual instructional specialist working collaboratively with educators, supporting the growth and development of teachers. The transformative impact he witnessed within the classroom fueled his passion for education.
Jo Napolitano is the author of The School I Deserve: Six Young Refugeesand Their Fight for Equality in America and has spent two decades reporting for The New York Times, Chicago Tribune and Newsday. She lectures across the country about often-overlooked potential of newcomer students. She believes no child’s life should be left to chance.

If an event is cancelled due to inclement weather or low enrollment, a full refund will be issued.
No-shows will be billed in full.
