This workshop is designed to equip education leaders with comprehensive insights and actionable strategies to effectively support and retain staff of color within educational institutions. Through a blend of interactive discussions, and practical exercises, leaders will be empowered to delve into the critical nature of supporting staff of color, unpack the causes and challenges, and learn research-backed tools and strategies for immediate implementation.


This session seeks to facilitate a transformative journey, enabling leaders to drive positive change and create a more inclusive and supportive workplace for staff of color.

Paya Sample, Executive Coach and School Improvement Consultant, is the visionary Founder of Pedagogy in Action whose mission is to empower leaders to create joyful and inclusive environments that prioritize human dignity. With nearly two decades of educational experience as a Principal, Elementary Educator, and Instructional Coordinator, she has honed her expertise to transform education into an inspiring journey for students and educators alike.

Throughout her remarkable career, Paya has worn many hats. She has fearlessly developed cutting-edge curriculum, championed equitable practices for students, created instructional systems of excellence, and led transformative action research cohorts. Her dedication to nurturing others and commitment to excellence shine through as she coaches and delves into research to unearth the best practices in leadership and education.
