Going Deeper with Building Thinking Classrooms in K-12 Mathematics | February 18, 2025 | 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
This FREE one-day session is designed for educators currently implementing practices from Building Thinking Classrooms. Take a deeper dive into the 14 BTC practices, learn about updates to Peter's research and further explore thin-slicing. Time will also be given to collaborate with other implementers in similar grade spans.
NOTE: It is assumed that participants have already read Peter Liljedahl's Building Thinking Classrooms and/or attended professional learning around his research.
Abby Smith serves all our members throughout the region as a K-12 math consultant. She has more than 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher, new teacher mentor and Instructional Coach and Coordinator. Abby is passionate about helping children build positive math identities and see math all around them in the world. She has extensive experience creating rich and rigorous math experiences for children so that they develop the capacity to think and reason independently. Abby has worked with numerous teachers at varying levels to build their capacity to help students think flexibly and engage WITH math (rather than simply do math)!
