Interventions must be tried in the categories of speech and language before eligibility for education services can be determined. Review the potential interventions and compliant use of eligibility criteria. Explore the use of 3:1 work model and the consideration of co-writing and implementing goals with other special education provides.
This session is designed for Speech/Language Therapists, SLP-A’s, Special Education Directors and Process Coordinators.
Pat Jones, MS, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist with 35 years of practice, including medical and school work. She is a past MSHA President and Missouri ASHA State Education Advocacy Leader (SEALS). She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Missouri Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has enjoyed opportunities to serve on national and state committees, including the Speech/Language Eligibility criteria workgroup.
Cindy Reineke, MA, CCC-SLP, has worked in Missouri public schools for 26 years and, most recently, at the high school level for the past eight years. She received her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Kansas in 1998 and has worked as a school-based SLP ever since. She has experience working with students with speech and language disabilities from Kindergarten through 12th grade. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Missouri Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
