Mental health challenges can affect anyone, including young people. As caring adults, educators and community members, it is crucial that we equip ourselves with the tools and knowledge to support the emotional well-being of our youth. The Youth Mental Health First Aid workshop is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence needed to recognize signs of mental health distress in young individuals and offer initial assistance until professional help can be obtained.
Explore:
Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)
Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges
How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis
How to connect youth with help
Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying
Learn how to respond with the steps identified in the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan - ALGEE.
This session is geared for teachers, school staff, coaches, camp counselors, youth group leaders, parents and adults who work with youth.
