Special Education Discipline 101 For Your Administrative Team | November 3, 2026 | 9:00 - 11:00

Students with disabilities are afforded additional protections related to school discipline. Both the IDEA and Section 504 grant procedural rights to students that schools must follow before or when a disciplinary change of placement occurs.
For special education professionals, general education administrators or any school professional, this presentation led by school attorney Betsey Helfrich, will examine the federal and Missouri requirements regarding discipline and go back to the basics to provide a deeper understanding of the applicable rules to follow and practical guidance to help implement the law.
Using case law and common scenarios, this presentation will answer your biggest questions regarding the discipline of students with disabilities.
