Transition Academy: Charting the Course for the Future | March 10 -11, 2025 | 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM CT
Secondary transition is the process of preparing students for life after they leave high school, including participation in post-secondary education or training, employment and community living. Effective transition involves a partnership between the student, the family, school-age services, post-secondary services and community agencies.
The Transition Academy is designed to help educators plan for college and career readiness with positive post-secondary outcomes for students being served on Individual Education Plans (IEP’s).
Components addressed during the Academy include:
- Using the Missouri Connections tool to help students identify and plan post-secondary goals and the needed services/activities to reach those goals
- Understanding the components of Indicator 13, the transition compliance portion of the student’s IEP
- Information about the use and role of transition assessments in post-secondary planning
- Involving students in the planning process for their future
Attendance is required at both sessions:
Monday, March 10, 2025
Tuesday, March 11, 2025
