Writing a compliant and meaningful IEP is central to delivering high-quality special education services that ensure every student’s access to a free and appropriate public education (FAPE). This workshop is designed for special education teachers who serve students with the most significant cognitive disabilities and complex learning needs. Examine how each component of the IEP—Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance, goals and objectives, services, placement, and accommodations/modifications—works together to create a cohesive plan for student success.

Emphasis will be placed on using the Essential Elements (EEs) to develop standards-based IEP goals and align instruction with the Instructionally Embedded (IE) requirements of the MAP-A assessment. Gain a deeper understanding on how to meaningfully integrate the EEs into IEP development and daily instruction to promote equitable access to grade-level content.
